FUNDING & REBATES

  • You can pay privately for an assessment and report.

  • You may be eligible to receive a health fund rebate, depending on your health fund and level of cover.

  • You may be able to use your NDIS funding to pay for an assessment, depending on your plan goals. If you are plan-managed, you should check with your Support Coordinator or Plan manager.

  • Under 25 years old: you may be able to access a Medicare Rebate for your assessment if you have a referral from a paediatrician or psychiatrist. Please note, a GP will not be able to write you a referral for this type of assessment.

  • Over 25 years old: unfortunately, you will not be able to access Medicare rebates to pay for your assessment. Therefore, you do not need a referral letter or mental health care plan to book or attend an assessment

WHAT IS THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS?

There are 3 main stages to the assessment process:

Stage 1. Book in with admin@sagepsychologyandeducation.com

Stage 2. Complete brief initial intake paperwork

Stage 3. 50–60-minute telehealth session to gather comprehensive background information on past and present development and functioning.

Stage 4. Complete a series of psychometric assessments. *

Stage 5. 50-60-minute telehealth session to discuss assessment findings, recommendations and have an opportunity to ask questions and clarify information.

Stage 6 (optional). Going through the assessment process can lead to a range of emotional experiences. SAGE Psychology & Education offer a handful of follow up sessions for ongoing support to unpack and debrief following an assessment.

*Some assessments can be sent electronically and completed in your own time. Other assessments may require scheduled face to face or telehealth appointments, that can last anywhere between 45 minutes - 3 hours.

HOW ARE SESSIONS PROVIDED?

The initial consultation and feedback appointment are provided via telehealth and lasts 50 - 60 minutes.

Some assessments can be carried out via telehealth, but some will be delivered face to face. These sessions can occur within the school grounds (with schools' permission) or in local community spaces, to reduce the impact of appointments on parental work commitments and school requirements.

The formal assessment process can take anywhere between 45 minutes and 3 hours. Depending on your preference, longer assessments can be broken down into smaller time slots. This can be discussed further in the initial intake appointment.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE APPOINTMENT?

To ensure that we can achieve the most for you or your child, you should provide any copies of reports or letters from GP, schools and allied health professionals, such as speech therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists, or occupational therapists

For assessment sessions, it may be helpful to bring a drink and snack, should this be required.

ARE PARENTS INVOLVED IN SESSION?

If you or your child is under the age of 25, parents are present for some aspects of the ASD and ADHD assessment. If you or your child is over the age of 25 years, a support person may be brought to the sessions, but this is not mandatory.

Depending on the age of the child, the initial intake and feedback appointments are attended only by parents, to ensure information and concerns are shared freely.

Any questions about attendance can be discussed further during the initial consultation or with our friendly admin team at the time of booking.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

You will be charged up to 50 percent of the service price if you do not attend your appointment or cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice.

Final reports will not be provided until full payment is received.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE THE REPORT?

You will be sent a copy of your report after your feedback appointment â€‹
